Summer is here and video games are being released weekly at retail stores. Video games are classified into categories called genre. Four of genre categories are sports, action, puzzles and strategy. The sports genre new releases include NCAA Football ’09 and We Love Golf Wii. These games will be released this week, July 15, 2008. Another sports release, Tiger Woods PGA Tour ’09 will be released on August 25, 2008.

Action genre video games Space Chimps, Batman, the Dark Knight (named after the recent movie releases) and Code Lyoko’s: Quest for Infinity. In Quest for Infinity, the player leads a double life as a school student and a digital action hero fighting a sinister computer virus. The release dates for these games is July 15, 2008.

Puzzle genre video games Rockband Track Pack Vol. I (for WII and PS2) and Nancy Drew: The Mystery of the Clue Bender Society for Nintendo DS. Rockband has 20 hit songs; the reviews are mixed on the songs selected for the game. The game is approved for Teens play, but it is recommended that all buyers read the box for information.

When buying any game, please check the ratings for the video games. The rating “Everyone," is suitable for ages 6 or older, features cartoon, fantasy or mild violence and infrequent of mild language. Another rating, Everyone 10+ is suitable for age 10 or older, has cartoon, fantasy with mild violence or minimal suggestive themes. Amazon.com has a list of video ratings for parents to review.
